And So It Begins.....

Sr Stream 1C teaser from Mitch Catacutan on Vimeo.

Alright, this is a special moment and I'm proud to debut my very first video creation. It all started this past week when I decided to try and make a video for my cohort. As mentioned in a previous blog (see below), my cohort is super cool (previously mentioned as pretty cool but they've been up graded since). Sorry Eric but this could be the best cohort EVER!!!! That's right I said it. Even this past week I learned that a few of them play guitar (and played while we sat on the grass during lunch yesterday), one painted a portrait of Obama with knives (pic to be posted at a later date), and one played a bar of the Imperial March in a presentation (to a roaring applause). Each day I learn more and more about them and not only are they great people but they are going to be great teachers as well. I could go on and on about them all day but let’s get back to the story….

So I've been carrying a video camera around for the past week. It started with documenting a video my group is making for another presentation (I think it's our last one together this semester, kinda sad). Every since that 830 meeting on Tuesday, I've been trying to film as much of my class experiences this week as I can while paying attention. I've had to explain on more than one occasion to my profs what I was doing. Thanks to my cohort for allowing me to point a camera at them all week. Some are a bit shy which is okay and some are starting to warm up to it. A few started to wonder what I was thinking/ trying to do and I explained in one of our classes that I thought about doing a class year book kind of idea. So to ease their nerves a bit and give them a look at what I wanted to do. So I made a quick teaser video to get them to hopefully be a little more open to the camera and some ideas I have to show the greatness these people have. It was a bit risky to make it my first ever video but what the heck.

At first I just had some pics that one of my profs asked us to take in our first class. Unfortunately, there was only 21 pics of the 28 members. So I took these pics and thought about creating a quick slide show to some music. So I took them and tried to match the changing of the pics to the beats of Power by Kanye. Once I figured out a few things, I got it done with some simple clicking and dragging. After I watched it a few times, I decided to try adding in some clips. Using an idea that I've seen Saint do on some Inside the Mobb Episodes (Season Premiere coming soon) and add some clips that was chopped up to follow the beat. I ended up doing a clip and figuring out how to do it, got me thinking that I should try it to another song. So I used More by Usher and started to add more clips. Next thing you know it was like 430 in the morning and I had 830 class to get to. All I could think of the next day was getting home and finishing it up. After school I went over to Dela's place where he showed me a couple of things: adding in text and a simple transition. From there I was able to finish the rest on my own (which took me to about 430 this morning again). I pretty much done the video when I realized that I wasn't in there at all except for my pic. So I poked a lil fun at myself and tried to pull out my best dance moves (although I'm no Saint or Mike Garcia). I wanted to show them that I can be embarrassed sometimes too.

So the vid isn't quite up to the level of Saint, Eric, Cam's, etc. It's a bit choppy and doesn't transition as cool as in Mobb vids. Hopefully I will be able to learn from those Jedi Masters so that I can come up with something EXCEPTIONAL for my new friends. Here it is. Hope you like it.

  1. Nice work kid. I see that Saint taught you a couple of dance moves... looking forward to what's to come in the future.

  2. See Mitch, I told you were gonna be up late finishing it off. Video editors are hardly ever satisfied. Nice ending by the way.
